Dan's Trek Session 77
I built this bike up to be a lightweight long travel rig that would be able to handle the more agressive trails this area has to offer, yet be light enough to pedal to the top of the hill. The use of the Fox DHX Air rear shock and the Rockshox Totem Air fork on the front, along with a Crossmax XL wheelset and XT components, allow this bike to be built up just over 35lbs. With seven inches of front and rear wheel travel, the Trek Session 77 has become my ideal all mountain ride. |

Kathy's Fuel EX9 WSD
My Trek Fuel EX is about as friendly as I'll ever get with a mountain bike. I'm a roadie. Give me pavement and skinny tires and I'm happy. Put me on knobbies and a little dirt and I'm a wimp. The four inches of travel does inspire a bit of comfort and Trek's women's specific geometry offers the short top tube I need and the quick handling I want. The lightweight frame and full XT component package is everything you could ask for in a great mountain bike. It's as good as it gets in the dirt and far exceeds the abilities or desires of this road maven. |

Phil's Italian dream machine
My 2006 Bianchi Oetzi climbs like a Mountain Goat and handles the single track like a Ferrari. Best of all it fits like a glove - absolutely the best mountain bike I've owned. The full carbon fiber frameset is comfortable and light. It's equipped with a Fox FX100 (brain) fork and XTR throughout. The wheels are DT Swiss rims and spokes laced to a reliable XTR hubset. Now, if only Campagnolo made a mountain group! |

Phil & Kathy's Litespeed Tandem
.How can you make cycling even more fun? Ride with the one you love - and bring your wife too! Our custom built Litespeed Taliani (Cherokee for group of two) tandem was our 20th wedding anniversary gift to ourselves. It allows us to ride together, talk to each other, and never wait for one another. Some say riding a tandem will bring out the state of a relationship - we love ours.
Riding a titanium tandem gives the glassy feel of steel combined with the lightness of any high tech material. The Shimano Ultegra/XTR mix of equipment, Phil Wood hubs laced to Mavic touring rims and Campagnolo Record headset provide a sturdy platform for any cycling endeavor. We've done day rides, short tours, and even a time trial or two. This bike does it all with style! |

Kathy's Girly Bike
The practical side of me thought of black or silver - but Phil said to be wild. So when I ordered up my custom-built Co-Motion Espresso, I threw caution to the wind and got it painted pearly, lipstick pink. But this is no wimpy girly bike. Outfitted with a Campagnolo drivetrain and Bontrager Race X-Lite wheels, it's a fast, light performance machine. Although outfitted with a slightly beefier fork and tire, I can take to the "strada blanca" in Italy and still feel in control. With S& S couplers in the frame, the bike packs into a suitcase making velo- traveling a viable option. The fit, the ride, the beauty - this bike is not just metal and rubber - it's true love! |

Phil goes British
Designed by British suspension engineer Alex Moulton, Phil's 17-inch wheeled travel bike is a great way to meet people! From race fans in Laigueglia, Italy to tourists in Nice, France, the Moulton speaks the language of fun. With it's intriguing design and small wheels, the Moulton is approachable. But with a 54-tooth front chain ring, a 9-26 cassette in the back, and a suspension design that makes it comfortable and responsive, the Moulton rides like its bigger cousins. It allows Phil to chase down Italian racers and say "Cheerio" as he pedals by! |
